A RECORD FUNCTION. Bj Telegraph.—Press Association. Wangnnui, Ust Night. The Wangauui agricultural show opened to-day in glorious- weather. The entries constitute a record, and, in the opinion of-the judges, the (J ualitv taken all round is of a high order, 'lie show of dogs is admitted to be the best Vet sceu iu the dominion. For the fl'iwt tune a representative show of harrien was made, dogs coming from Auckland, \\aikato, Hawke's Bay, Keniopt ami Kangitikei Hunt Clubs. The cattfc ■classes arc very strong, beef sections being the best yet seen here. The dairy classes are well patronised. The purebred sheep classes aro all good, and the judge declared the fat sheep section to he tho best he had seen in either Island during 25 years' experience. The championships arc m follow: Thoroughbred entire, Mnniapoto. (Attic—Shorthorn bull andcoiv, R. B. Hamilton; Polled Angus bull, ,1. J. Campbell; Hereford bull, O. F. .Moore; Hoistem bull and cow, Newton King; Ayrshire bull and cow, William Ha.'re; Jersey bull. J. S. T. Short; Jersey heifer, J. Donald.
Sheep.—Lincoln ram and ewe, H. W. Wybonnc; English Leicester ram, It. Browner: English Leicester ewe, Klnolt Bins.; Border Leicester ruin and ewe, Mrs. J. 1). Ormoml; lioiimey Marsh ram, H. Tanner; Romney Marsh'ewe, Standen anil Kvlamls; ram, ('. G. Russell: ewe: I'ied Moore.
