RIFLE SHOOTING.

TARANAKI RIFLES v. WAITARA. A very enjoyable match was lirod on Thursday afternoon at Waitara, between teams from the Tarauaki and Waitara Rifles, ranges 200, 500, and 000 yards. There was a fairly strong wind blowing. The light, 'however, was very good until the last men were shooting, at d'oo yards', which range was not finished until about 0 p.m. Tea was provided by the Waitara ltiih's. Tlie ninteh resulted in a win for the Taninnki Killcs, for whom Lieut. Willis ]iut iiji the line score of 100. The town team, however, had a "tail," Waitara had not. Following are the scores:—

In response to an invitation a team of ten men from the Taranaki Guards' on Thursday fired a match against a combined team selected from members of the Kaitake and Oknto Rifle Clubs. The match was decided at Oakura, the Guards scoring a win after a very interesting shoot. The visitors were very hospitably entertained, and in the evening bad the pleasure 0 f attending a complimentary social in the hall. Following are the scores:—
