WAVERLEY-WAITOTARA R.C

ANNUAL HACK MEETING. The graving popularity of the Waver-ley-Waitotara meeting was in stron <r evidence yesterday, when the races were attended by the largest crowd on record. A very large number journeyed from New Plymouth, and at every nation along the line a strong contiitgent was picked up. From the south also the meeting was well patronised. The course was in good order, but the pleasure of the outing was somewhat marred by a disagreeable wind and dust —.l circumstance over which the oiricinls had no control. The meeting, as usual. was well managed. The acceptances throughout were good, fields large, and racing interesting. In the regrettable absence of the popular .secretary (Mr. J. W. Emrnerson), who lias recently undergone a serious operation, Mr." William Mall, secretary of the Waiiganui v Club,, supervised the arrangements. The assistant secretaries, stewards and nlVirinU generally kept things going stnooMily throughout the day. There'was not a single accident during (be dav. nor was there a protest.
