. SENIOR CUP COMPETITIONS. HOVERS v. INGLEWOOD. Hovers journeyed to Inglewood yesterday and completed the match against the local club. In the first day's play Rovers had 280 runs for eight wickets, living been at the wickets all the afternoon.. In the continued innings Hasiil went in and had brought bis 137 not out to 150 before the innings closed, carrying his bat out. Mason, the other not-out man, increased his 18 to 27, when he was caught by Clcgg. Preshaw added two to the score, which totalled 310. Inglewood went to the wickets, Clcgg and Cameron opening. Clegg compiled a good 33, Crombie came a little later with 52, and B. Sutherland and W. Matthews put up 47 and 48 respectively. When only two wickets had fallen for 81, it began to appear that the Rovers bad taken an undue risk in not declaring their innings closed with the first day's score, there being a great chance (that Inglewood would play out time and uraw the match. The last man out left the score at 250, and Rovers won the match by 00 runs on the first innings. Scores were as under:— RpVERS. CARRINGTON ROAD v. WAITARA. The natch between Cairington Road and Waitara 'was continued at Waitara yesterday afternoon, and finished in an nay win for the visitors by an innings i>nd 23 r uns. Carrington Road had made 116 runs, Waitara responding with 48. following on yesterday, Waitara made the still smaller score of 45, Southall taking eight of the wickets for 20,. and Lash getting the other two. THE JUNIOR CUP. FIRE BRIGADE V..WAITARA. The Eire Brigade played their first match against Waitara at the West End sround yesterday, in ideal weather. Waitara "won the toss anil elected 0 Vat, sending in Mabin and Letts to face the bowling of I. Bullot and Clarke. In the first over' Mabin's stumps were scattered by a good ball from Bullot, I etts was the next man to retire, weing e'ean bowled bv Clarke after making on? lun. Lash followed, and after making a couple was bowled by Clarke. The remaining batsmen did not stop long aeainst the deadly howling of Clarke, who, in capturing, the last wicket, «nt one bail a distance of 41 yards. The timings realised only 17 runs. Fire Brigade opened with Clarke anJ Best. Twenty appeared on tie boaid •when last .got a good one past Best. Billings, after making one run, was sent back hv Fuller. L. Bullot then joined Clarke, and made things hum until Clarke got run out after making oi in good stvle. I. Bullot followed, and with -his brother kept things going until Ad-;-am bowled L. Bullot, who had made 33 by good cricket. O'Halloran, the next man, stUl made things lively, until I. Bullot was caught by Tate. B.
