(From Our Own Correspondents). PLMIIO. Tlio Puniho school children's concert was held in the schoolroom on Thursday night. The night being very line and light, the room was crowded to tin: doors mid a large number were unable to gain admittance. There were visitors from Waren and Okato. The room was nicely decorated with nikau palms and dowers of various kinds. The children all went through their parts without the slightest mistake, and did not appear to be at all afflicted with stagefright. The figure marches were earned out splendidly for children, and great praise is due to their teacher, .Mr. Thomas, for Mic way in which he had trained them. The following programme was gone through and was very much appreciated by the audience.' Thomas (thanked the audience for their attendance. The schoolroom was then cleared for dancing. .Mr. Sydney .Jeffries acted as Master of Ceremonies. Mr. Willie Clark (.Maori) supplied the dance music (accordeon). At midnight supper was provided and handed round in Mr. Thomas' house. The dancing was kept going until the early hours on Friday morning. A rather .nasty accident occurred here on Sunday night about half-past nine o'clock. As the Rev. Laybourne was driving home to Rahotu from Okato, when" he had held a service that evening, and was coining down the Werekino Hill to (lie bridge, two men came down the hill on (/he other side of the bridge in a gig. Neither of tiic traps had lights, and the respective drivers were unaware of the others 1 proximity until they collided on the bridge. The gig was capsized and one of the occupants was slightly hurt about the face, and the gig suffered a little damage. The cross bar of the diev. Laybournc's buggy was broken, but no other damage was done. Luckily, there, were several young fellows close to the scene when the accident happened, and after a little repairing both traps' were set off on their journeys.
HAIIOTU. On Friday the ladies of liihatn gave their annual ball, wliieli. as usual was a great success, there being a good attendance, if not the greatest number yet seen in the new hall. The committee, consisting of .Uosdaines Baker, d'rooni. Lowrio, Ponwarilen. IfctTnniiighan, Cramer, Hisses Eustace, Lewis. Schim;kct, and Maker, worked very Jiard to inake the ball enjoyable, and I think everyone went home satisfied thev had had a thorough good time, The duties of M.O.'s.. this time in the hands of the ladies, were carried out in a very capable manner by Misses Lewis, Mclfannighan and Fleming. A word of praise is dui' to Ihe secretaries, Misses Eustace and Lewis, as a large share of the work fell on their viioiildcrs. Mr. Kuowles provided his usual excellent music.
On Saturday tho Kaliotn Athletic Chili held ih usual meeting The chili has n. credit balance of about M 4. wliich is very satisfadnry. II r. T. Parsons was elected chairman, ami Mr. 1..
