A meeting of the committee ihe Taranaki Agricultural Society was he'd at the office of the secretary (Mr. E. I'. Webster) last night. There were present: Messrs. \Y. Ambury (in the chair 1, S. J. With regard to the long-distance driving competition, the sub-committee reported that they had gone into the matter and were unable to recommend its being put on the programme this yea", but would carry it out next year. Dr. Paget wrote stating that lie would give a donation next year towards the obj«t, and suggested that the Government should be asked to contribute, as suc'il competitions would be of incalculable good in deciding as to the best breed of I'.orsc. that wire netting to the extent of £3 10; be obtained to fence in the paddock. This recommendation was carried after some discussion, some members considering it should 'be held over for this year and a permanent picket fence erected when funds permitted. Mr. Okey wrote that Mr. Cuddie had consented to Mr. Thornton, chief grader at Auckland, judging butter exliibits at the show. New Members.—The following wore elected:— Messrs. .T. C. Spedding, A. Hodgkinson (Takaka), R. A. C'urtin, J. Cnrtin, and R. Cholmondeley. Committee—Messrs. R. Cholmondeby and J. Smcllie were elected to fill vacancies on the committee.
