Mr. A. JT. Hansen, of Sew Plymouth, bus been appointed to the position of dairy grader at Gisborne. The vacancy at New Plymouth will be filled by Mr. W. Dempster, of Levin. Mr. John Jack, formerly chairman of tjie Wellington Harbor Board, died on l'riday, aged 81. He was a prominent Presbyterian, and also took great interest in Caledonian Society matters, Mr. R. E. Rmlman, of Wellington College, has (states a Press Association telegram) been appointed headmaster of the Thames Higli School, out of twentyseven applicants. Mr. Ritdman is an M.A., and graded Al in the service. The Rev.
