MR. MERRI MAN'S VIEWS. By CftWe.—Press Association. —Copyright Received 20,10.10 p.m. Capetown, October 20. Mr. J. X. Merriman, (Premier of Cape Colony), speaking in the Cape Assembly, announced that he was asking Lord Crewe (Secretary of State for the Colonies) to publish the deliberations of the Imperial Defence Conference. He acldeii that he and the Transvaal representatives were strongly opposed to the wretched tin-pot navies. He expressed hope that in the future the British naval programme would be discussed in the Colonial Parliaments.
