ACCIDENTS AND FATALITIES.
A DENTIST'S JiND. By Telegraph.—Press Association. Wanganui, Ocluber at. Mr. P. T. Houston, dentist, with a large practice here was found dead this morning in one of the private apartments of his dental surgery, from the effect of inhalation of gas. A buttle of chloroform was found on his person. Deceased had been in indifferent health for some time, and suffered from insomnia. Recently he returned from a health trip. He was a single man. ATTEMPTED SUICIDE. i Christehurch, Last Night. About five o'clock this evening, ail elderly n.;ui named Hamilton Geary, residing at lleathcoto, attempted to commit suicide by cutting his throat with an ordinary pocket knife, He wis l.,ken to the hospital, where it is not thought that he is in immediate danger. He has been practically bedridden Willi rheumatism for some considerable time.
