WAITARA. (From Our Own Correspondent.) At the close of the choir practice of tile Wesleyan Methodist" church on Fridav evening last the Kev. Reid, oil behalf of presented Miss Elliot and Mr. Murgatroyd with a handsome silver scuttle. Mr. Murgatroyd, on '>eha'f of Miss Elliot and himself, returned thnnks daring the evening. Songs we'e given by Mrs Rowe and Mr. Sculley, and a duet by the MisserPearce. Suppoi wa« then handed round and a pleasant evening spent. Owng to the unsettled slate of the weather very little rowing lias been done, '['lie local clubs expect io get going durthe next f«.w days. The secretary of the Ciflnn Rowing 'dub has been in Wagimui inspecting some boats under offer to ffitv cTnb, and which the club intend purchasing. Mr. 11. Collier will probably stroke tii : ; senior crew this season.
Owing to Sergeant Major Dodd being niiraged at an encampment this week, T-'iranaki Mounted rifles has been postponed until the llth November.
