A meeting of the Warea Dairy Company was held last .Saturday night to jonsider the question ,of (starting 'tp make cheese or keeping tci butter for another moiilli. It was decided to put the butter under oiler at ll%d until .Monday. The factory will be ready to start in a little- over a weeks time. The new 14 horse-power Luke boiler was used for the lirst time on .Monday morning, ami worked satisfactorily. The most of the machinery is now on the ground, and some of the men are working day and night to push the work through by (he end of the week. 'J lie coopers finished the wliev tanks last week. Two of tliein hold :U(||} gallons each, and one is smaller. Mr. Clothier had the misfortune to lose a young horse last, week as he was breaking it in. A rope was attached to the animal's neck for the piirpo,o of handling, and when lie pulled back lie dislocated his neck.
Mr. P. Pint started working hn liiihl milking machine last week. Mr. I'mi has spent most, of the winter getting things ready, building a new twelve-bail cowshed and other buildings. I understand the Acclimatisation Society is putting rearing ponds on Mr. [Villain's property on the Warea linad. he having undertaken to look after either 10.000 or 211.0(1(1 young (rout. This will he a good thing for anglers of the district, and outsiders as well. Mr. .John Leedoni left here last, week for his new home in the Hastings district, where he has secured a fruit farm.

The culvert that was washed out by the Hoods on the main road some time ago lias been repaired. Concrete pipes of 3ft. diameter have been put in in place of the small ones that failed previously to carry oil' the water. The milk supply i.v increasing almost every day at the creamery.
KAIIOTU. The Oaonui Co-operative Dairy Company started to make cheese last, Saturday at their Arawhata road branch. The fourth trophv competition was fired for at the Kah'olu range on Saturday. The day was line, hut a strong south-easterly wind was blowing. There was a fair attendance of members, and Mr. H. Baker .secured a, lc<r-in. He put up 3d at the 000 yards and 31 at the 001) yards.
