Newnll, astronomer engaged in aslrophvsicnl research at the Observatory, Cambridge, states that lalley s comet Is of ,i magnitude from I. to 14'/„, and that there has been a visual oWrvation (or 180 days before Hie pehihelion, n« compared with 102 fiiiys m 1885. His observations do not justify the anticipation of any unusual brightness.
l'r. S. W. Jiiimhiim and Professor oat mini, of ierkes Ohservatorv, Win cousin, with u Hin rcllector, also observed the comet.
