CANTERBURY SYNOD. By" Telegraph.—Press Association. Christehurch, Last Night. At the Diocesan Synod to-night Bishop Julius moved as follows: "That the Synod of the diocese of Christehureh now in session desires to convey fraternal greetings to the Presbyterian General Assembly upon its meeting in Christehurch. The Synod recognises the important work that the Presbyterian Church is doing in the Dominion 'of NewZealand and prays that the blessing of Almighty God may rest on its present deliberations." The motion was agreed to unanimously. OTAGO SYNOD. Duncdin. October 2f>. In opening tlic Anglican Svnod, Bishop Neville pressed a claim for a large building wherein oratorios could he rendered, or where people could assemble as mem- I hern' of one empire rather than as members of one congregation. His idea was to go back to tho ancient st.vle of cathedral with a consecrated choir and a sanctuary large enough for the ordinary congregation, which would bo separated from the nave by a suitable screen, the nave not to be consecrated and to' be availnblu for secular purposes.
