LONDON MARKETS. By Cable.—Prcs.. nsociatioa.—Copyright London, October 22.

Silver, 23% d. Barley—Small business is being <l°"-. on passage. A parcel of Australian and Cape sold at 31s. - . Oats are easier owing to heavy arrivals, finrtons are. quoted at 20s to 22-. and sparrow-bills IDs (I'd to 21s. La Hula are unchanged. DAIRY PRODUCE REPORT.

.Messrs I'.. Crifliths and Co. are in receipt »f the following market report from their London principals, Messrs Mills and Sparrow, dated September 10, 1901):

The weather continues both rainy anil cold, lmt it is really good for the consumption «f butter. Danish: The quotation lias been raised two kroner. Hitherto the quotation has ahvays.becn fixed on the prospective va. lues bf Danish butter in thta United Kingdom, but it is now proposed to fix it on the actual prices that it is rca'ising on the British markets. This has been brought about by a conference he'd between the Danish Association of Farmers anil Mcrchants'and the British iin-_ porters, and it has been arranged that from every possible centre where Isan:<l butter is sold in England, there shall be a committee to report on the state of the markets, anil selling values and tile advices are to be wired to Copenhagen weekly, so that the committee will have them before fixing the quotation. It i' to be hoped that this new arrangement will work satisfactorily.

Iri»h: The quality does not seem quite so good this week, and with the exception of a little higher price for unsalted butter, there is no further advice to report, French: As supplies are decreasing, and the demand has been fairly we'd maintained, prices during the week have advanced 2s to 4s. Siberian: Arrivals this week on'y amounted to 7000 casks, but for "next week we expect a little more, so we can only assume that the shortage this week has been caused through some of the butler having been kept back, as the supply during September should average, about Ill,niHlV.isks per week. There has been a good demand for all finest grades, and they have cleared readily at In 1 ! rates. Fo r secondary quality the trade is not quite so good, but the butter just manage* to clear by the end of the week.

Colonial: The stored butters continue to llnd a few buyers, but a small shipment of winter-made New South Wales butter came to band this week per s.s. Dorset, and realised fairly high figures, some unsalted making up to 115s, and though the quality was not the best we have ever seen it' was fairly good, and buyer* are eager after good butter now. Cheese.-Canadian: The trade continues quiet, and some agent* are taking slightly lower rates than last week.

New Zealand: The s.s. Wakamil has arrived, but the cheese has not turn'J out in very good order. They have evidently been carried at too high a temperature. This is rather a pity, as there were many first-class buyers who were ready to take the cheese'if it had b?en up to the usual standard.
