THE ROSAMOND. The Rosamond, which is onaking a special trip up from Wellington prior to taking up her new running, is due early this morning. She has a cargo oi about 420 tons. A PORT OF REFUGE.

During the past day or two a heavy sea has been running and on Thursday evening the schooner Isabella Dcfrain, which had been hanging off in the oiling during 4he day, came inside the breaKwater for shelter. The harbormaster has received no signals from the vessel and Her destination is unknown. The auxiliary scow Albatross, bound from Onehunga to Waitara, has been unable to work the latter port owing to a fresh in the river and is also sheltering. Tne practically calm water that exists in. the lee of the breakwater proves of great convenience on occasions of this kind, and the way in which these vesse's were yesterday riding at anchor shows how' little justified certain Australian shippers are iir maintaining that there is undue risk in bringing their sailing vessels here.
