I ANXUAL HEKTIXG. i ■ ; The annual meeting of members of the , Imputable Building society was held in ; tjie Town' U„ll last „igl,'t. Mr. W. X , I'.wing, the chairman 01 directors, ijre- > sided .over an attendance of about lifty | shareholders. < In moving the adoption of the annual ; report and balance-sheet, as already pub- , lished, the chairman said the society had had a fairly succcs-lul year, Hit I , progress being steady. There were onh ■ eight of the .So. T group of shareholder!- ' in arrears with their subscriptions, m y the Xo. 2 group there were slightly > more. The position at the end of the , year was thus very satisfactory. Thoc , were ;i!l7 shares in the first grsun, am. [ 512 in the second group, yet to receive , appropriations. 1 Mr. F. (J. Bellringer seconded, and in | liis remarks said the position of th. society's finances showed that the policy pursued by the directors had been a, good and sound one. I The motion was carried without discussion. Messrs. F. P. Corkill, B. Dockrill, S. Paton, and S. W. Shaw, the retiring directors, were again nominated, and reelected without opposition. Mr. C. T. Hills was re-elected auditor, Mr. H Lewis being also nominated. Upon the motion af Messrs. Mills and Bellringer, the directors were voted £25 from the the first group; ana on the motion of Messrs. Avery and Tonka a similar amount from the second group. Mr. Dockrill, on behalf of the reelected directors, returned thanks for the confidence shown in them, and said there was every indication that the present successful operations would be continued. Mr. Mills also thanked the shareholders for his re-election as auditor. The chairman said that at last annual meeting authority had been given thr ' directors to raise the working expenses levy from two shillings to four shillings • a share. The directors had found it \ possible to carry on on the old basre, i and the. levy had not been increased. ' They would also endeavor to do this , in the coining year, but if it were found < I necessary they would be able to avail J themselves 1 of the authority already \ , held. ; Xo objection was raised to this cour i. , This concluded the business of the .'.- < nual meeting. \ A BALLOT. Subsequently a ballot took place for . tv*> appropriations rif £l5O in tin ] first-group—'Mr. Fred Jackson's was the . winning number and took both appro- J priations. In the second group two ap- , propriations were balloted for, and were i secured bv Mr. W. S. Howell. There were several tenders for ap- « propriations in both groups, the first bringing ■ £34 10s and the second £37.
