MOA ROAD BOARD.
The regular meeting of the above Board was held on Saturday last, when there were present: Messrs Trimble (chairman), Capper, Corkill, Jones, Lawrence, Mundt, Stead, Williams and Voung: The chairman referred to a claim from Mr. A. E. Surrey, claiming Is V/A and Is 3d respectively per hour for workmen assisting their foreman.— Some discussion followed, when it was ■diown that there was a difference of eleven hours in the times charged l>v .Mr. Surrey as worked, and that re-
ported by the foreman.—Resolved, That Mr. Surrey's claim be not reccnised METAL CONTRACT. "
Mr. Turner wailed on the Hoard relative to the tenders for metal called by the Board, as his tender had been I rejected in favor of a higher tender as. it was said, the other metal was better, and so made the higher price really the most economical. This contention, he said, was contrary to truth, as thev could see by examining the two melal's on Junction road.
Mr. Capper said that Neilson ».,. plained there was too much stripping at rnrner's pit, as well as the difference in the quality of the metal. Another reason was that Turner had not the necessary teams to do the work, and was dependent on other carters, who went at that job when they had nothing bett'°r ■to '« and so delayed the work The chairman said that the last contract Turner had there was a very «reat delay, with considerable damage to" the
