WORK AND WAGES.
By Telegraph.—Press Association. Rotorua, Last Night. The Conciliation Council to bear fch* industrial dispute between the Auckland Hotel and Restaurant Employees' Industrial Union of Workers and the Rotorua hotels, private hotels and boarding-house-keepers. S at in conference sin;e mid-day on Friday until three o'clock this afternoon. The hotel dispute.was considered only. The assessors for the boardinghouse-keepers were not present when the Council sat, but half-anhou* bitr, Mr. Knox, who appeared for the boardmghousrteepers, declined to re bound by the agreement arrived at, and the boardinghouse assessors refused to sign the documents intended for the Arbitration Court. It was then agreed that the hotel agreement be forwarded to the Clerk of Awards. A long duu*sion ensued regarding the confereir» in connection with the bonrdingnousekeepers, and the assessors assenting, were finally nimble to agree. The Commissioner decided under section 42 of the Act to submit the dispute to the Arbitration Court, as he considered it waste of time to go into conference with no prospect of the parties agreeing.
