WAITARA. (From Our Own Correspondent.) Mr. A. J. Kibby, saddler, was the successful tenderer for the supply of. leggings for the North Taranaki Mounted Rifles
At a meeting of the local Bowling | Club held recently plans for tlie near I pavilion, prepared by Mr, E. Wickham, were submitted. They provided for a building of Ihe looms, with a verandah and ornamental front. The cost to complete the work was considered beyond the means of the club at present, but it was decided that the proposal should he carried out to the extent of having three of the rooms completed, anu instructions were given to Messrs. Ogle and Bent to arrange for the erection, and it was decided to throw the green open after Thursday next. The following team will represent the Waitara Rides in a shooting match against Elthain at Eltham on Thursday. Colo> Sergt. Brabant, Sergt. Sampson, 1 Corporal Andrews, Privates Soffe, Johnston, McKay (2, and Chappell. The monthly meeting of the Waitara Harbor Board, which « us to have taken place on Friday evening last, has been adjourned until Friday evening next. The annual general meeting of members of the Waitara Rowing Club was held on Saturday evening. Mr. G. V. Tate occupied the cliair. The statement of accounts showed receipts lor me year (including balance Drought forward, £1 : '.)■> lOd) to be £22 9s Id, and the expenditure totalled .The same amount. The assets of the club include cash balance £2O 13 4d, two pair oar outriggers, two four-oar outriggers, one whaleboat.. and gear. The following officers were elected:— Patron, Mr. William T. Roy, D, Hutchinson, 11. T. Jo.l. 11. Chappell, and H. N. Cossar; captai,i, .Mr. W. Telfar; deputy captain, Mr. L. Jennins; custodian, Mr. L. Jennins; committee, Messrs. S. Burns, A. Drake, L. Tate, E. Andrews, S. G. Frascr, W Dernehil, M. Jennins, A. Andrews, Purkiss, 0. Old, A. Lash; selection committee, the captain and deputy captain and Mr. R. Tate; secretary, Mr. C. H. Tate; auditor, Mr. W. H. Nosworthy. It was decided to make all members of the club at its initiation life members. The subscription was fixed the same as last year—seniors 10s, juniors 2s 6d. The question of a new shed was dis cussed, it Has estimated that the coot would be about £SO. It was decided to build a shed on the lines of the plans I submitted.
The matter ol joining Clifton in an opening day was left to the committee to arrange. The Rowing Association wrote notifying the club that their colors had been allotted, consisting of red jerseys with white band. It was decided to ask he association to supply the club with a list of colors in use, so that the club could choose a color not allotted, and more suited to its taste than the colors given. Mr. Logan, boatbuilder, wrote offer ing to build a new whaleboat for the club for the sum of £57 106.—1t was decided to reply stating that the committee would go into the matter next season. Mr. G. V. Tate was thanked for a donation of £1 towards the shed fund. A letter of sympathy was directed t'> be sent to Mr. A. MeAlpine, a member of the club, who is lying ill in the Wei lmgton Hospital.
