LABOR DAY.
AT WELLINGTON. By Telegraph—Press Association. Wellington, Last Night. .The principal celebration of La'mr Day took the form of a picnic, and sports at Mirainar under the auspices of th ( . Trades and Labor Council. Among lhe visitor* were Sir Joseph Ward, the Hons. Miliar, Fowlds and Ngata, and several members of Parliament. No speeches were made.
[ AT TIMARU. Timaru, Last Night. Labor Day was observed as a strict holiday. Races were held at Albur-, and a military display and mimic batt'e on the showgrounds. A large number ot volunteers and cadets took part. The weather was fine but a strong nor'-west wind made matters somewhat uiipleasaut. r
AT AUCKLAND. Auckland, Wednesday. •Beautiful weather favored Labor Dae colourations. A general holiday enabled a great public gathering to witness the procession and attend the sports in the Domain. The procession was the largest yet seen oil Labor Day, and included many novel features. Trade and business were-largely represented.
