AGRICULTURAL SOCIETY.
The general committee of the Taraliaki Agricultural Society met on Monday night at the oll'ice of the secretary (.Mr. E, P. Webster). There were present: 'Messrs. Aniburv, Stanley Smith, "\\. Stanley, 11. King, A. M'L. Thomson, E. Elliot, .). R. Hill, -Blundell, F. Watson, tluseolt, A. 11. Street, F. Cornwall, A. AY. Woods. ST. (IKIIMAIN'S SQUARE. The sub-committee set up to proceed with the empowering Hill in connection with St. Germain's Square, reported that the latter had been dealt with by the s'ociea's solicitors, and would be brought forward during lite present session of Parliament.— it was resolved that a separate account be kept re expenditure in connection with the Hill. BUTTER-FAT COMPETITION. The- butter-fat competition committee reported that all arrangements had be-n made to hold the competition during the summer months, and that excellent paddocks had been secured from Messrs.
F. W. Kagan and S. .1. Smith, Old Hospital Road. The conditions as suggested were continued. The sub-committee will remain in oll'ice and will carry the competition through to its finality. Tne paddocks, to be used in connection with the competition wilt be shut up on the 20th inst., to allow of good, feed being ensured the cows, not being taken over bv the society until November 20. THANKS. A hearty vote of thanks was passed to the Jockey Club for its oiler of the use of the racecourse ami grandstand in connection with the forthcoming show.—it was decided to contribute X.'l per annum towards the cost of telephone should it be connected to the course by the Jockey Club. ' MOUNTED RIFLES.
Captain 11. Haseler, of North Taranaki (Mounted Rifles, wrote asking foe particulars in connection with the special prfr.es proposed to be allocated to the best mounted officer or trooper of the corps, and also in connection with the specials' for the jumping competitions.
A sub-eomniittce consisting of Mesx'rs. chairman, Mr. Watson and the .secretary was appointed to deal with the matter. AGRKTLTURAL CONFERENCE. It was decided to pay the Agricultural Conference .levy of 1!3 3s. A subcommittee consiting of Messrs. Ambury, F. Cornwall, A. 11. Street, F. Watson, and W. Stanley was appointed to go into the matter of revising tiie judges' list as* published by the conference for the northern portion of the Taranaki district. Til 10 COMING SHOW.
The arrangements for the forthcoming summer show were then gone into. It was decided that the annual dinner b ( . h M as previously on the evening of the- first day of the show, December Ist. The matter of catering and the publican's hoUtii was left in the hands of the secretary to arrange. The secretary will also make arrangement regarding the supply of medals for the season. The secretary was instructed to make inquiries as to the cost of music to be supplied by the Garrison Hand on Thursday, the second day of the "show. A grounds committee was set up as follow^:—iMessrs. Stanley f Watson, Smith, Woods, Fagnn, Mills and Guscott. The special prizes, of which a large nmu'lier have already been promised, will be allocated by the schedule committee. An innovation was made in connection with members' tickets, it being agreed to e-vteud larger privileges. Members' tickets will now admit at the main gate the member, two lady friends, and the member's children {actually in custody of their parents) under 15 years of age. NEW MEMBERS.

Any timing 1 hour 40 minutes count l» points, and 1 point is to bo added for each minute under the 4(1 minutes, i.e.. J hour 150 minutes would got full 20 .points, and I point to be deducted for cacti minute over 1 hour 40 'minutes., i.e., 1 hour •")(! minutes would get nil. Horses to hue up before judges on return and be examined for stamina, any horse which in the judge's opinion has been over- : driven to he passed out. After examination for stamina, horses to be judged on general show ring points. Horses to bo rubbed down and fed in half.an hour and the feed-box examined half an hour later still. Dr. Paget gives U towards the prize money, which the general committee of the society has decided to increase to Cl 4. A sub-committee was appointed to decide as to whether the competition should bo held at the forthcoming tfhow or held over until next year.
