.Mutton.—The market is firm, with a hardening tendency, on account of the small shipments that are expected. Tiie stocks on hand are light and firmly he'd in a few hands. The average prices to dav for Canterburv mutton are 3%d, North Island 3'/,,d', River Plate 3%d. The lamb market is linn, low in price, but encouraging. A good demand exists for all descriptions. The market was favorably alfeclcd by the advance of mill ton. The average prices to-day are: Canterbury 3%d, North Island S'/od. Beef —The market is steady; and a fair business doing. The average price to-day for New Zealand hinds is 3%J, fores 2%d. Butter—The market is firm and t'tie demand moderate. Buyers are holding back expecting prices to go lower when, the colonial shipments arrive. The price of choicest New Zealand butter to-day is USs; for best quality only, Danish 1275, Siberian 107s, Australian' 104s. Cheese The market is quiet hut steady. New Zealand is quoted at 575. Hemp—The market remains firm and business is apparently improving. New Zealand good fair on spot to-day is quoted at £27 15s, fair grade on'spot £2O 13s; fair current Manila £2O 15s; forward shipment October-December New Zealand good fair per ton £27 10s, fair grade £2O 10s; fair current Manila £23 10s. The Manila output is 27,000 bales.

Cocksfoot seed—A better demand exists mid tin. market is firmer, a few enquiries being made by speculative buyers for cocksfoot seed. The average price for bright, clean New Zealand cocksfoot seed weighing 171b per bushel on spot, (i7s (id. Wheat—The market is weakening, with signs of a decline. Large shipments arriving from Russia and America affect the market. Ne ff Zealand longberried wheat on spot ex granary per quarter of 4001b 38s; short-berried'ditto 375. Oats —The market is quiet but stonily, with a fair demand for lietln' grades. Reims—The market is stcadv and price* are well maintained. New Zealand beans f.a.q. new crop, per 5041b, 3Gs.

Pens—The market is firm, with more enquiry for New Zealand peas. Partridge, per 5041b. arc quoted at 4(is.
