The Rosamond arrived from Wellington on Saturday with 200 tons of general Cargo. She" sailed after discharging tor Onehunga, and returns here to-inor-I row. II SHAW-SAVILL BOATS BUILDING. j The Shaw. Savill and Albion Company [are adding to their already splendid j ! licet of steamers by the building of two ; cargo boats, one by Workman, Clark i ami 1 Co., and the other bv Ilarland and I Wolff. The steamer building by Workman, Clark and Co. will have a capacity of 1110,000 carcases and 15,000 bales, and will have a sea-going speed, fully laden, of 12y 2 knots. She is to be available in March 11)10. She will be on the lines of the Tainui, but in general arrangements will be an enlarged Kia Ora. The latter"b details are:—Steel twin-screw; gross tonnage, 0558; net tonnage, 410S; < length, 44Sft; beam, 50ft; depth, 30ft. I The Kia Ora is now on her fourth voyage and on her three previous ones sh3 made the journey in forty-three days each to New Zealand, and from New Zealand to London in forty-one days . each. The steamer for which Ilarland and Wolff have received the order is to replace the Maori. She will be similar to the Tainui, but with 2ft more beam, and will be fitted with quadruple engines, giving a speed of-12'/ 2 knots. This boat will probably be named the Rangatira. and will be ready for loading from Loudon in October. 10HI, To give an idea of the new steamer we quote details of the Tainui:—Steel twin-screw steamer; carries 1)0,000 carcases :.nd 0500 bahs; gross tonnage. 0057; nei tonnage, 0288; length, 477 ft; breadth, ill ft; depth. 31ft. -The Tainui is now on her fourth voyage. Her previous two passages to New Zealand were made .n forty-two days, and the journey to London in thirty-nine days. Tlie_Rinm is scheduled to leave Onehunga to-morrow for Opunake and Wauganui.
