THE NORTHERN UNION GAME. WELLINGTON DEFEATS AUCKLAND. Uy Telegraph.—Press Association. Auckland, Saturday Night. The Auckland-Wellington Northern Union representative football match played here today attracted a crowd of nearly 40(10. The weather was perfect, -but not for football, the day 1.-.'ing hot with brilliant sunshine and 'little "wind. H was an unusual sight to sec a football crowd clothed in summer attire. The match was interesting beyond the average, being full of incident and exciting and rapid play. Wellington won by 22 points to 19.' Tries for the visitors were obtained by Wright (3),o'Sullivan; Cross and Barber, while the latter also converted one try. Jackson also kicked a goal from a mark. For 1 Auckland Seagar (21, R. Wynyard, Dunning and Grundy scored tries, two of which were converted by W. Tyler and Woodward. The Auckland team included the Maoris Papaknra -and Opap Asher, and the hitter's bumping aid hurdling powers created considerable excitement dining the game. The gate takings amounted to £l3O.
