BIG HOTEL GUTTED.

A FIREMAN KILLED. By Telegraph.—Press Association. Feilding, October 5. A big fire, e (tended by fatal results, peeurrcd here between one and two o'clock this morning. Hastie's Feilding Hotel, a. brick building which was finished four years ago at a cost of £BOOO •was gutted, only the wills being left. The fire started in an unoccupied bedroom upstairs and spread through the roof and walls. The fire brigade, with a strong pressure, confined the flames to th'- up '-lir-' portions of the building. Wh'lsl '"'iding a nozzle on the landing at the head of the stairs inside the building Fireman 1). Williamson was instantaneously killed by a chimney collapsing and falling nn him. Several other firemen were within a few feet of the spot.
