CHINA'S FUTURE.
A PERFECTLY REAL AWAKENING. By Cable,—Press Association.—Oopyrigbt Sydney, October 4. Tho Chief Justice of Samoa has returned from a visit to the East. While in China lie engaged 500 Chinese t# work the German Island plantations in place of Island laborers, who lately have .been giving trouble. He is convinced that the awakening of China is perfectly real, the motive being a powerful patriotism, which sprends right through the people. He believes that China will create hntli iin army and a navy enough for its own defence, but he thinks there is uo fear that these will lie used aggressively. The Chief Justin does not believe th.it China will be an aggressive power in the Pacific.
