THE SPECTATOR'S OI'IXION. | Received 4, 9.28 p.m. London, October 4. The Spectator anticipates that the Lords will reject the Budget. It would prefer its passage. A lost election would give a lease of power to the Radicals, whose return would do grave mischief. The paper believes the country's disgust within eix or eight months would force a general election, when socialism could be fought to better advantage. VIEWS OF THE PEERS. Received 4, 11.55 p.m. . London, October 4. The Daily Chronicle addressed a telegraphic question on the Budget to several Unionist Peers. Viscount Peel replied: "I hope the I Lords will pa«sc before taking the extreme step of rejecting the Finance Bill." Earl Delawarr replied: "In rejecting the Budget the Lords arc taking a very great risk. If their action be not endorsed, their veto -will be rudejy shaken." ■ Baron Monteaglo wired: "Much as I ' disapprove of the Budget, I do not approve of the lairds rejecting it." Lords Avelnirv and Kinnonll favor the Lords giving the Government an opportunity of appealing to the country.
