Albert Laurence, son of Mr. Wiilium Laurence, fanner, of Durham Road, had succumbed to 'pneumonia subsequent to an attack of influenza. His friends were unremitting in their endeavors to rob the disease of a victim, but it was evident I at an early hour on Thursday thai their • ell'orts, combined with the skill and careful attention of Dr. Uault, were un- j availing, and the sulVerer gradually sank quietly passing away at 4.1") p.m. Heceased, whu was horn on Durnani Road, was in his twentieth year and was extremely popular with young and old, and his .presence will lie greatly misseil, more especially amongst the younger portion, as his ability as a pianist, which was far above the average, was continually in demand and greatly appreciated at all kinds of entertainments. Deceased had quite recently become a member of the Inglcwood Fiorcsters' Lodge, and had a large circle in inends in all parts of the Moa district who will be sorry to hear of his demise. Mr. and Mrs. Laurence have the heartfelt sympathy of all in uicir sad bereavement.

Ruin! Rain! Nothing but rain, which is 1 considerably hampering operations for planting crops. Cows are coming into profit all sound, and the evidence of increase of milk is seen daily by additional cans in carts at the facI tory.

The annual meeting of the factory takes place on Monday, at 8 p.m., and the suppliers are at present wading through their halancb-slieet. During the past season the milk received was fi.570.227 lb, and butter made 130 tons 10 cwt. 1 qr. lo lb, an increase of 5 tons over the previous highest year's supplv.
