FACTORY STARTED IN SYDNEY. By Cable.—Press Association.—Copyrig'at Sydney, October 1. 'An aeroplane factory has been started in Sydney. Various models, including eignt ivar kites, are under construction. Mr. J. Cook, Federal Minister of Defence, recently approved of regulations for a prize of £SOOO for the best flyng machine suitable for military purposes. The machine must not bo supported by any gas lighter than air, and as far as' possible it must bo constructed in Australia by Australians.

A NEW RECORD. Received 3, 5.5 p.m. ■ London, October 2. Orville Wright, manoeuvring at Potsdam, aeroplaned at a height of 700 feet, which is a world's record.
