LONDON MARKETS. By Cable.—Press Association.—Copyright London, September 20. Tallow sales.—722 casks were offered and sold. The price showed a6d advance. Silver, 23 11-lu'd. Wheat—Tlic American visible supply is 33,01i0,000 bushels. Wool—An animated wile -was he'd and full prices were received for all sorts. WEBSTER BROS.' REPORT. Poultry.—On Saturday last we had a large entry of poultry /but not enough to satisfy the demand of the public. We would remind farmers that there is. a good market for table birds at prefient. Prices Tealised were: Hens (laying) 2s 3d to 2s 7d, do. table 2s 2d to 2s 0(1, poor Is lOd to Is lid;, pullets 2s Gd, cockerels 2s 3d to 2 5 lid (poor 2s),' ducks 2s 2d to 2e 10(1.
Meat.—On Saturday morning we had another large consignment of fresh beef and mutton. Prices were a shade than previous week's, running as follows:—Beef: Rib 3d to S'/.d, brisket I'/ad to 2d. prime round 2'/ 3 d to 3d, roast 3d to 3'/«d, sirloin 4'/C.d to S'/.i, gravy beef l'/ 2 d to 2d. Mutton: Forequarte'r 3d to 3'/ s (l. shoulder 3'/ 2 d to 4d, loin 3d to 4d, leg 4d to od. Rabbits, Is 4d per pair.
Mart—We offered on Saturday afternoon the carpenter's tools in the estate of J. O. George, and cleared every line iinde r the hammer at satisfactory prices Fruit trees and furniture sold at prices favoring the purchasers. Clearing Sale.—On Tuesday we held a clearing sale on account of Mr. Ben. (Jillbanks, of Spotswood. There was a good attendance of the pujblic. The cattle were in good condition, and bidding was brisk throughout for nil classes of dairy stock. Prices obtained were:—Dairy cows (young) £3 to £9 ss, do. old £4 12s fid, Jerseys in milk £0 5s to £l2, springing heifers £4 12s Od to £0 2s Od, empty heifers £2 13s fid to £2 10s, steers £2 os, yearlings (poor) 18s, wcaners Us (id, calves (very young) Is Gd, young bulls £'i 0s to £2 Bs, horde, trap, and harness £l7, itore pigs 1&. On account of other vendors' we sold springing cows £5 to £5 ss, empty heifers £2 10s to £3 ss, young bulls £2 10s, 3-year filly £5, 2-year gelding £2 12s 6d, 2-year colt £4 2s 6d, 4-year gelding £6 ss. Oil Paintings.—ln our mart on Wednesday we offered, on account of Mr. H. W. Kirk-wood, a choice yariety of oil paintings, and, with one exception, sold the lot under the hammer or privately | at satisfactory prices.
L. A. NOLAN & CO.'S REPORT. Poultry.—On Saturday We had a very good entry, and all birds met with 'a ready sale. We quote: Hens 2s to 2s 8d pullets 2g Id to 2s 7<l, cockerels Is Od lo 3s 3d, roosters Is »d to 2s 3d, ducks 2s to 2s Id, turkeys (gobblers) 5s Od to 6s Od, broods of ducklings <is Od to 7s Cd. At the mart a large quantity of furniture, boots, etc., realised satisfactory prices.
Fruit.—This has been in small supply. We quote: Apples, Tasmanian Stunners Os to 13s fid, according to quality; lemons, large 9s, small 4s Od; 'bananas 10s 3d to 12s, oranges lis to 13s.
