NEW PATEA STEAMER LAUNCHED. Auckland, Wednesday—The new steamer built by W. It. Brown for the Wel-l.ngton-Patea trade was launched, yesterday afternoon. She is named tho Kapuni.
THE PUTIKI. The 'Putiki, which arrived on Tuesday afternoon with 400 tons of coal (i lie major portion of -which was for the Railway Department), discharged her cargo yesterday. She got away for Westport about fi* p.m. THE RIMU. The Rimu arrived yesterday from One. hunga and Kawhia, and left shortly afterwards for Opunake and Wanganai. Xcwrton King received the following telegram yesterdav:—"Tainui signalled, Hobart." A Home authority considers 'the new Shaw, Savill and Albion Co.'s steamer (which is about to be built to replae (he Rangatira, which has been sold) to be the "finest cargo steamer in the world."
