The_ Government proposed to finl £1,3137>00 for various railway loan works. The accumulated surplus on 13th June last amounted to £637,078. Compared with the previous year, the total revenue decreased by £335,000. The Government had redeemed loans during the year to the extent of £3,240,000. That amount, If,added to the amount spent on public works, made a gFaird total of £0,284.000. . I It is estimated that the valid old age pensions for the current year were] 95,000, being 20,000 in excess of last year. The estimated revenue for the year is £13,622,000, and the expenditure £13,162,000. After making provision for the Publio Works Fund and the Closer Sc'tlement Fund, the estimated surplus is £407,000.. The Govirnmmt requires three millions for public works during the year.
