ACCLIMATISATION.
A meeting of the Tarannki Acclimatisation Society was held lust night. Messrs, J. K. Wilson, W. L. Newman, E. W. Whittle, J. Bennett, W. Birch and the secretary being present. Correspondence was lead from Mi*. W. Herlihv re exchange of hen pheasants. The Secretary reported having arranged an exchange of hens with Mr. Lobb, and on Saturday last saiMxtorily completed the transaction.—The secretary also reported that the new ponds and Hume at Pukckura Park had been completed and that the ponds were now stocked with 40,000 young lry, 20,000 each of rainbow and browiArou't. Mr. Wilson (president) reported having attended a meeting of sportsmen at I Inglcwood, and had a most cntlmsias- | tic meeting. Much keener interest wasl being taken in the preservation of game and stocking the rivers with lish, and it had been decided to erect a concrete pond for rearing tile young fry, 10,000 having been ordered for the dis- | triet. I It was resolved that a letter of thanks be forwarded the Directors of the Inglewood Bacon Factory for the permission to construct a pond on their property. The secretary reported that lie had arranged with several settlers throughout th|. district to build rearing ponds for the young fry, which, it is nnlicipated. t'he Society would have for distribution from it* hatcheries this next season.
According to instructions received at the last council meeting, the secretary ordered a sack of wheat to he given to the Pukekura Park Board with which to feed the wild fowl on the lakes.
