ROWING.
THE NEW ZEALAND COUNCIL. By Telegraph.—Press Association. Wellington, Last Night. At a meeting of the Council of the New Zealand Amateur Rowing Association, a ruling was given on a question raised by the Southland Association, vie., "Could a maiden oarsman win a junior race and row as a maiden later on the same day or subsequent day to which the maiden race may be postponed.?" The council was in accord with the definition of a maiden oarsman given bv the rules, "that immediately a man wins a junior race he is ineligible to compete as a maiden.'' Several applications from clubs for alteration of colors were held over until next meeting. The revised rules' of the Southland Association were approved, subject to their being in accordance will) the A.R.A. rales.
A general discussion took place on various motions on the order paper for the annual meeting on 2nd prox., and it was also mentioned as being advisabi • that the selection of the crew to represent New Zealand in the champion interstate Amr-oarcd race at HfWiart; in February next, should be left to the incoming council.
