HI KIR STRAINED RELATIONS, j By Cable.—Frew Association.—Copyright Xew York, September 27. * Commander Peary justifies his refusal to allow what he calls "Cools'* *tuff" aboard the Roosevelt, stating that he wiw aware of Dr. Cook's intention to claim the Pole, and'determined not to aid the project. Mr. Whitney states tlut Dr. .Cook knew the relief ship was coming north, but owing to his strained relations with Commander Peary, preferred not to wait but- to go to the Danish settlements. Professor 'McMillan, of Commander Peary's expedition, states that he found a lingo rock split open by frost bearing * a perfect imprint of a great tropical fern. A petrified h'tump of a tree 18 inches in diameter and the fossil wn&ins of tropical animals were also found* Xear niack Cape, in latitude 81 degree*, line coal seams were located.
