Mr. Newton King r efunied ycetcrda-y from a visit to Auckland. Mr. F. J. E. flapper, formerly in business at Kaponga, is leaving for Sydney shortly. Last week he was "fareweJleu" by the local residents and presented witb a purse of sovereigns. Mr, C'has. M, Berkeley, representing Mr. J. 0. Williamson's Julius Knight Co., arrived in town last night to make arrangements for the appearance of the company here on Thursday, 7th prox., h ".I he Breed of the Treshams."
Sir Albert Spicer. the president of the recent Chamber of Commerce Congress at Syilne\, will head a party of ihe delewho will make a fiving visit to New Zealand next month. Tm-v will reach BlulT on October 17th and 'lav;-;-, rargill on the following day. The dav after will be spent in travelling nortliwarda to Christclmrch, and on the moraiug of the 20th the party will reach We'linglon. Here |}je first real pause wi l be made, but it will only be brief, as the travellers will set off agaiin'by Hie Main Trunk express the following <lny. Rotorua will be reached on the 22nd. and evidently the members are anxious io view its wonders, ae th"v have allowed themselves until the moninig of the 2.lth for this purpose. Auckland will be cached that night and inspeoted the following day, while on the 27tli the vis "tors will take their departure for Suva. There is a probability that another p*rty of delegates will work through Ww Zealand from til" uoriii a little later on.
