HOMING.
NEW PLYMOUTH CLUB. The New Plymouth Homing Club held its interval race for the Haggar Tropiic, presented by Mr. W. 11. Haggar, of Christehurch, from Johnsonville (Wellington) on Thursday. The trophy has to be ■won twice in succession or three times at intervals to become the absolute property of a member. Last season was the first in which it was competed for, Mr. G. A. Covney's Whakatane being the successful bird. The race -was held from Auckland on the north route. This year the same member's Sceptre proved the winner, covering the distance of 187 miles air line in 4 hours 39M; minutes. The trophy, therefore, becomes the property of Air. Corney. Seven members competed in the race, the birds being liberated at regular intervals of ten minutes. Following were the first three A. Corney's Sceptre, time 4hrs. 39</ 3 inin.. velocity 1147 yds. Ift. lin., Ist; V. H. Benl's l Lady Madcap, time 4hrs. 4!)min., 'Velocity :1110yds. 2ft. 9in., 2nd; E. Ward's Exhibition, time Ohrs. 12min., velocity 858 yds. Ift. 3in., 3rd. Mr. Beal 1 was also runner-up last year. NEW PLYMOUTH EAST END CLUB. I The New Plymouth East End Flying Club held a race from Foxton on Thursday, a distance of 125 miles air line. Favorable weather enabled the birds to put up fast time, three timing in for first place. Following were the positions:— W. H. Boulton's Red Jacket and All Black and A. Lovegrove's Nigger tie for first place, time 21irs. 23</ s inin.; H. J. Moverley's Old Judge, 2hrs. 24min. 25sec, 2; C. E. Wright's Mercury, 21ir. 27min. 25sec, 3; F. James' Major, 2hrs. 27iniu. 37sec., 4. The next race will take place on Thursday from Te Awamutu.
