THE ROSAMOND. The Rosamond, which is due to-day about noon," has 200 tons of general cargo for New Plymouth.
The Rimu is scheduled to leave Onehunga on Tuesday for Kawhia, Nov Plymouth, Opunake and Wanganui. Advice received in the Dominion recently states that the new steamer now ibuilding in England to replace the Rangatira is to be ready to sail from London ifor New Zealand) port* in March next.
Two Home liners are to call at Nelson during the season to load wool, the ''clip" being expected to yield about 4000 bares.
Under the name of the Elleno-Anglo Steamship Company, a new Greek line has been established to carry out a fortnightly cargo service from North luiropeart ports to the Levant and i passenger and cargo trade from Trieste to New York. Another White Star liner hitherto unknown in the waters of the southern hemisphere is listed to arrive at Australian ports. The vessel is the Ceorgic, 10,077 tons register. She was to have left Liverpool last week for Adelaide, Melbourne, Sydney and Brisbane.
A return issued by Lloyd's of the number and tonnage of merchant vessels of all nations lost or condemned during the three months ended December 31, 1908, «s reported up to July 3 of this year, shows that 84 steamers, of an aggregate tonnage of 115,941 tons, were either totally lost or condemned. Of those 34, of an aggregate tonnage of 53,674 tons, were British, and five, of 2443 tons, belonged to the colonies. Of Bailing -vessels the number was 122 and tonnage 62,710. British 10. tonnage 8197; colonial 19, tonnage 7908.
