MARRIED AGAINST HER WILL. By Telegraph.—Press Association. Christchurch, Last Night. Eugenie Long, alias Dransficld, was committed for sentence to-day on a charge of perjury, having sworn in the court, in the case in which Thomas Long was charged with being illegally on pre mises, that she was not Long's wife. iWitnesses gave evidence and the marriage certificate was produced. Accused pladed guilty, but counsel for her said that Long had forced the woman into marrying him. He had persecuted her ever since. He was a low ruffian and a despicable blackguard, whom counsel hoped the police would look after.
' THE MASTERTON BURGLARIES. Masterton, Last Night. Alfred Langley and Roland Ranger .were committed for trial to-day on a charge of breaking and entering the Shop of Alexander White, tobacconist, end stealing therefrom tobacco, pipes, and tobacco pouches valued at £5. FEEDING CASES. Feilding, September 24. At the Court yesterday, before Mr. !A. D. Thomson, S.M., Jessie Cox pleaded guilty to using an instrument for an improper purpos'e, and was remanded to the Wang.inui Supreme Court for sentence. Thomas Powell and Edward ILewer pleaded not guilty to supplying the instnmient, and were committed for trial. STOCK DEPARTMENT PROSECUTION Stratford, September 24. At the Magistrate's Court this morning, a settler named C. Dale was fined £5 and costs on a charge of feeding pigs on unboiled offal. The prosecution Wis instituted bv the Stock Department.
