The Royal Commission appointed to inquire into the question of a compulsory Saturday half-holiday reports against the proposal. It finds' the evidence disclosed that Saturday afternoon and evening were the most profitable times of the week for the shopkeepers, and that there was not sufficient reason shown why they should be compelled to suffer pecuniary loss.
