SEAMEN'S WAGES.
TROUBLE ABOARD A UNION OOY.*S STEAMER. By Cable.—Press Association.—Copyright Received 23, 11.5 p.m. Sydney, September 23. Trouble occurred (board the Union Co.'g Waitemata, loading at Newcastle under charter for Manila. Up to the present the crow have been paid in accordance with the recent New Zealand Court award. To-day they were to'd this was not to hold good on the trip to Manila and 24 hours' notice would be given that the pay of the seem-'n and firemen would bo reduced. The men thereupon refused to work, allif :ng that they understood they had been engaged for six months at New Zealand rates.
They refused to leave the ship and the aid of the police was then invoiced. They were ordered off and left the ship.
