While at Home he suidied"in the leading art schools in London ami Paris, and then took a six months' tour through the Italian cities,, studying in the galleries. Then he became'one t,f the artist colony at St. Ives, Cornwall, taking a studio and working np subjects for exhibiting. In this he was veiy successful, having, had pictures, hung in the Hoyal Academy, London,- Guild hall, Bristol Academy, the Hull Mnnieipnl Gallery. Cheltenham Gallery, Falmouth, and other exhibitions.
This season's display of cotton goods at "Whites' is far and away ahead of anything the firm have shown before. Cambric prints are showing from to lO'/ad. A particularly fine range of French cambrics in block stripes, absolutely fast colorings, is to be had at S'/sd. Two tones in these, and also ztiphyrs, are selling freelv, the prices ranging from 8d to Is for the latter materials. Patterns are sent on application.—Advt.
