The Commercial Intelligence Committee of the Canadian Manufacturer*' Association reports that Germany is anxious for a treaty, but the general feeling of manufacturers does not favor ft remision of the Customs surtax.

At the auuual banquet of the Association for a Permunent Tariff Commission, the Hon. G. P. Graham, Minister for Publie Works, referring to the Aiuericai tariff, recommended a dignilied attitude. New fields for Canadian enterprise had been found before and could be found again, and Canada's policy was to continue preference for the Motherland.
