News has been received from London that Mr. R. S. C. Brown, A.M.J.C.E., a graduate of the Canterbury-College, lias been appointed Professor of Engineering at the College of Science, Poona, India. Mr. Brown was a. recent student at Canterbury College under Professor Scott. Mr. O. L. Har rison, postmaster at Kilhirnie, died at his residence on Saturday. Mr. Harris, who was an Imperial I'ost Oll'ice pensioner, was transferred from Shannon a few months ago, where he hail held n .similar position for some years.
Mr. J. A. Koch, who liasi been for some years accountant in the llawera branch of the Bank of New Zealand, and lately relieving manager at Manaia, has received notice of transfer to Wairoa, llawke's Hay, to which oll'ice he has been appointed manager. Mrs. .lack, whilst having lunch with lier son-in-law and daughter, Mr. and Mrs. McNanghton, at their residence at the National Bank, Ilokitika, on Tuesday, suddenly fell back and expired. She was in her sixty-ninth year. Mrs. Jack was the widow of Mr. McLean Watt ■lack, a prominent resident of Ilokitika. Mr. I l '. ]!.
