NtEE SCHOOL BOOKS. By Telegraph.—Press Aisoelatit*, Christchurcb, Last Night. At a meeting of the North Ouitarbury Executive of the Farmers' Untoi, a resolution was received from the Ashburton branch to the effect that the granting of free echool by the Department had failed to falM its purI pose and suggested that the jrant be discontinued. It was pointed out tint the children were not allowed to take the books home and parents hid to buy other books for home use. After discni. sion, it was resolved to forward the remit to the Minister for Education.
PKOSPECTS OP THE COMING YEAR. Napier, Last Night. At the annual meeting of the Chamber of Commerce tliid afternoon, Mr. 1). A.
