Mutton.—The market is firmer and greatly affected by the reports of small shipments. A good demand exists for all qualities' and holders are not anxious to sell. Canterbury is quoted at 3'/ 4 d, North IsV.inil 3d. The lamb market has advanced and a further advance is probable on account of the advance in mutton, although the stock is heavy lor late in season. Canterbury brands 3'/ 2 d, Xortii Inland 3y v d. Beef.—llhc .market is quiet with a tendency in favour of buyers. River Plate beef, lieavv hinds and fores 2%d. Butter.— I The market is firm with a demand chieflly for beat quality. Australian butter lias' arrived and is selling ait 112s for salted and 114s for unsaJted. Danish is quoted at 120s and Siberian at 104s.
Cheese.—'The market is quiet and small business is doing. There is a slight falling in prices all round. New Zealand, isi quoted at 58s and Canadian 575. Hemp.—The market is quiet but steady. TransacWnis me ligut. New 7x'ajand : good fair grade on spot is quoted at £2 15s, New Zealand fair grade on s]>ot £24 15s, fair current Manila. £24 10s, October-December shipments New Zealand good fair grade £25 10s, fair grade £25 IDs. fair current Manila per ton £23 10s. The Manila output is' 24.1W0 bales.
