Mr. W. Bewley went north by the Karawa lust night. Amongst the passengers last night for Auckland were Dr. Gault and Mr. 11. J. M'. Thomson, of Inglewood. Mr. 11. .S. Uobison, manager of the Eltliam branch of the Bank of New South Wales, luft yesterday en route for Nelson to take up a position there. Mr. T. V. Kay, local representative of Messrs 11. Woodhouse anil Co., should lmve been included in the list of members of the New Zealand Society of Accountants. ' Mr. and Mrs. W. Bannerman, of Auck land, have been appointed master and matron of the Hawke's Bay United Charitable Aid Boards' Old People's Home, at Parke Island, near Napier. Mr. Bannerman is at present master of the Costley Home, Auckland.—Prass wire.
Mr. W. T. Jennings, M.P., was entertained at a big banquet by his Kakahi | friends on Friday evening. Leaving that place by Friday night's train, lie was enabled to be a spectator at the Taranaki-Aucltland football match on Saturday. ITe left the city by Sunday's train for Otorohanga, from which place he visits Kawhift and district, and it will be a few Jays yet before he returns home.
