Amongst the cargo brought by the Rarawa on .Thursday were 173 bags of manure, 72 bags of cement, 40 bags of Jims, 62 boxes of candles, 440 bags oi sugar, and 115 cases of fruit. THE REGULUS. The Regulus (Westport Coal Co.'s collier) arrived from Westport at 4.20 p.m. yesterday, with about 200 tons of coal for this port. Discharging operations will commence this morning. She leaves later for Wanganui with her remaining cargo. WAIMEA DUE TO-DAY. The Waimea (Anchor Company's steamer, Nelson) is due here early this morning from Nelson, which port she left at 5 o'clock last night. She is to: take away some 80 cows for Waitapu, I near Nelson. THE ROSAMOND. The Rosamond is due from Nelson, Picton and Wellington this morning. She will have 357 tons of cargo to discharge here, after landing which she leaves for Onehunga, returning on Tuesday. ANOTHER NEW STEAMER. Advice by mail states that tho Kew Zealand Snipping Company has placed an order for the construction of s passenger and cargo steamer of about' 11,000 tone register with Messrs Denny Bros., of Dumbarton. She is to be an improvement on the s_s. Ruahine—launched last month—and instead of having triple-expansion engines will have a combination of. turbine add triple-expansion engines, as in the case of the &s. Otaki. No information as to when the new vessel will he delivered has been made known.

UNION STEAMER TO TAKE WOOL TO LONDON.

It is stated that he Union Company's cargo seamer Waitemata (a vessel of 5132 tons gross register and 2500-iJi.p.) will be despatched as the first wool shin of the season for' London. If the rumor proves correct, she will be the first vessel of the Union Company's fleet to make a trip in -the direct trade from New Zealand to London. During last month 97 steamers and 3 sailers, representing 50,12G tons, entered Westport harbor, and 105 steamers and 5 sailers, representing 57,887 tons, left the port. Total tonnage for the monb, 108,013.
