THE DAIRY INDUSTRY.

AGREEMENT ARRIVED AT. After a conference lasting until the early hours Af yesterday morning, sn agreement was arrived at between tins representatives of the employers and workers engaged in the Taranaki dairy industry. The Wellington award was' taken as a basis, with the following alterations:—

Wages.—Head 'factory (cheese or butter) Assistants' wages: First, 555; second, 47s Gd; third, 4Us; with milk, butter, and sleeping accommodation provided. Branch cheese factories.—Assistants' wages: First, 50s; second, 455; third, 40s; with the same perquisites. The wages of creamery managers were fixed at ss' over the Wellington award, but creameries where less than 1000 gal lons of milk is received daily will be exempt. Terms of engagement to be two years and wages to be parable moatlily, fourteen days' notice of termination of engagements to be given. Holidays.—The option is given employers of granting hands one day off per week (in lieavjof fpurtccn |days ijisr I annum.
