A PATRIOTIC SCHEME.

At a meeting of the Dreadnought fund fluliKcribprn, the Lord Mayor sub* mittcd a wheim' for the disposal of the money subscribed by Uie public, viz., .tKi.fWfl, towards the Dreadnought fund. I>ut uh the money was not now required for that purpose, the Commonwealth Government having made other arrangements for naval defence, fait proposal wa* that In order to commemorate the wave of patriotic feeling which Ew land'* need bad drawn forth, and to Hvmboline the State'* attachment to th* Mother Country, the fund and accrued interest be devoted to the building and equipping of a King Edward nava college near Sydney for the training of Australian cadets for the Empire Navy as offlcern, engineer), and naval architects, and equipping and maintainhg one or more farms for the training <t British in Australian -farming. It is estimated, that the proposed college and a farm would each cost £50,000.
The feeling of the meeting was favorable to the Lord Mayor's proposals. It wa# decided fo further consider the proposals at an early date. Meanwhile the subscribers to the Dreadnought (and •will be generally notified.
